Laboratory experience is an indispensable part of the educational process and a key factor in preparing cadets for maritime practical life. For this reason, Bangladesh Marine Academy operates 4 laboratories, viz: Electrical lab, Mechanical lab, Physics lab and Computer Lab within its premises. All the laboratories are equipped with latest and sophisticated instruments and facilities that provide hands-on practice for cadets. Professional personnel are always available to give help and support to cadets in projects and experiments. Hence, a free access policy outside the regular lab hours in a safe and secure environment for experimentation and research is one of the privileges enjoyed by our cadets.
Electrical Lab:
The electrical lab is well decorated and equipped with latest and appropriate laboratory equipments. This lab aims at familiarizing the cadets with the basic electrical components, their characteristics and applications. Moreover in this lab we are making the cadets aware with the different theorems, laws, networks, circuits, which are the basic building materials of all those huge electrical equipments, motors, generators etc. The lab has all the facilities for 25 cadets to perform 16 experiments at a time.
Mechanical Lab:
Mechanical lab is equipped with various equipments relevant to the area of statics, applied mechanics, fluid mechanics and thermo-dynamics. Over 16 experiments are performed in the mechanical laboratory which has the capacity of 25 cadets. We believe that after conducting experiments under the guidance of the faculty members, the cadets will have a sound theoretical and practical knowledge and they will be able to demonstrate the ability to identify, formulate and solve real-maritime technical problems.
Physics Lab:
Physics lab houses equipments that allows cadets to explore concepts in classical and modern physics. More than 20 Experiments, performed in this lab, cover a diverse array of the major topics of physics, including Properties of matter, Electromagnetism, Light, Sound, Thermo Dynamics etc. Presently 50 cadets can be accommodating in this lab and they learn how to correctly manipulate experimental data. Available equipment includes a digital storage oscilloscope, computerized data acquisition, and the specific equipment needed for experiments.
Computer Lab:
Bangladesh Marine Academy operates its own computer facility which is reserved for use by instructors and cadets. This computer laboratory is equipped with 50 new brand computers. All computers in the laboratory are connected to the hi-speed Internet and have CD-RWs, DVD players, and allow for flash-drive data storage. A variety of software and training video of maritime interest is available on each computer.
